content marketing apps

Content marketing is so prevalent now that it’s become an industry within its own right. With Google’s latest releases, content development is a necessary component to any successful online marketing strategy. You need to have blogs, social media posts, contests, email marketing and more just to stay current with other Internet savvy competitors.

While this has become a necessary evil, there are tools to help you find, curate and post content online with relative ease. Let’s face it – you don’t have all day to look for topics and spend time writing something catchy and relevant. To help you along, I wanted to share some of my favorite go-to apps for every stage of content development.

Recording Your Thoughts
Why does it always seem that your creative flow is in full swing when you are nowhere near your computer? When you’re driving or away from your computer and ideas come rolling in you need a quick and easy way to record them. Dragon Dictation is a free app that will record your voice and then translate it into text. It goes a step further by allowing you to text message or email your recorded text. Even better – it’s free!

To Write More – Read More
Much of the inspiration found for content creation is discovered through reading other material. These famous words from author Stephen King say it best, “If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot.” As a writer, you’ve probably got the writing aspect covered. However, it’s surprising to realize that many bloggers or content marketers don’t spend enough time actually reading. The biggest reason for this could be that it’s not always easy to remember to read current blogs or magazines. That’s where the following apps come in. Set up some quick preferences and voila, you have all the latest reading material you can imaging at your fingertips.

Manage Your Schedule & Work
As a content marketer, you live and die by your schedule. You may have guest posts due, social medias posts that need to be posted or even a special contest that needs promoting. If you’re like most businesses – you may even need to do all of these tasks at once. Learning to manage your activities can help you keep on track, stay focused and still produce amazing, share-worthy content. Below are some of my favorite productivity apps.

Timeli
This app is the easiest way to see everything at a glance. It shows your projects and tasks using timelines, so it makes it incredibly easy to see when you may have overbooked yourself or find areas where you could maybe squeeze in some more work.

Clear
Sometimes you just need a quick to-do list to get things out of your head. For this, Clear is an excellent choice. Not only is it beautiful, but it’s also pretty easy to use. Since it stores your info in iCloud, you can also have access to your lists from your Mac or your iPhone.

Evernote
Probably my favorite app of all time, Evernote is more than just a note taking app. You can use it as a depository for your ideas, a clipping service, a to-do list creator and all around productivity tool. With the Premium service, you can even share folders so all members on your team can collaborate.

This is my basic lists of apps – what’s yours? Do you have any favorites that weren’t included?
